Below is the timeline of events in Awesome!Jakeverse. It contains both elements from canon, as well as fanon established through our stories, and fanon that only “lives” in our heads. Wherever possible, we have mentioned the source of the date and/or event.
TV time and Real World time don’t always run at the same pace. In our stories, we’ve applied Real World time, as well as Earth Logic. This means that we’ve had to wing the show’s timeline in places, sometimes condensing events into a narrower timeframe, or stretching them out over a longer period than strictly seemed to be the case in the actual episode(s). Occasionally, canon even gives two different dates for certain events, at which point we’ve picked the one that sits best with the overall timeline, our purposes, or other events shown on screen.

1) The passport Hawkins looks at (1.05 Federal Response) says 1977, but that makes no sense with the rest of canon: in the Pilot (1.01), Jake specifically states he’s 32, and it fits better with Stanley’s timeline as well. Hence, 1974.
2) The props department was apparently so set on having everyone born in 1977 that they never noticed they had Eric born (according to the driver’s license shown in 1.08 Rogue River) eight months after Jake (according to the passport in 1.05 Federal Response)…. We’re using the divorce papers instead for the year, but have kept the day and month from the driver’s license. ‘Cause we can…
3) Johnston gives at least three different terms for his Mayorship. Since the most specific reference is Eric’s memory of being in second grade when Johnston was first elected (1.12 The Day Before), and that fits with “over twenty years” he mentions elsewhere in the same episode, we settled on 1984.
4) Jake’s visa records (1.12 The Day Before) show he’s been in Iraq 6 months. Jake tells Payton (1.08 Rogue River) he spent 18 months in the Green Zone. Combined with the “Feds” showing up as soon as he’s about to get involved with Ravenwood again (1.12 The Day Before), we’ve theorized that he spent the last 12 months spying on J&R for the CIA, and that they expunged his visa details from records accessible to employers.
5) Since it makes very little sense that Johnston would be out hunting bright and early the morning after his (very) late return from Black Jack, we added several days to that plotline, ignoring the way the episode cut this with the Hawkins & Sarah plotline.
6) The “4 weeks since the New Bern war” caption in Reconstruction (2.01) makes absolutely NO sense with what actually happens in the plot. So we went with logic instead of mathematically challenged canon and made it 10 days. And picked April 1st. Because Jericho waging war on the home of the nearest Costco is just too bizarre to believe….
